Garven has been involved in the Hospitality for most of his life, his family ran a very successful Private Hotel in Dundee and it was in this environment he spent his early years. Since these beginnings he has progressed from Chef to General Manager in his native Scotland to countries covering three Continents.

After finishing College he applied and was awarded the Robert Gordon's Scholarship which enabled him to go to Germany to learn the language and work at the Hotel Am Schlossgarten, Stuttgart. On returning to the UK he worked in various Hotels as Assistant Manager leading on to Executive Assistant, then General Manager of Esso Motorways Services before opening, as the youngest General Manager in Scotland at the time, the 250 room EssoMotor Hotel Erskine. He was then headhunted to join Hyatt International and held General Manager Positions in Sydney Australia, Mashad Iran and Hyatt Halcyon Cove Antigua.On leaving Hyatt he set up his own Company in Antigua, which was involved in Restaurants, Hotels and food distribution.

Leaving the Caribbean in 1996 he returned to the UK where he joined VIP International recruiters before joining Roger Burnay in 1997 at Grapevine International. Being a keen golfer and having close family ties with the golfing industry in Scotland, he has used these ties to assist many clients in golf operations whilst at the same time making many connections with all levels of management within the industry. He has also a great understanding of the Time-share industry in the Canary Islands.
